Parenting podcasts are my jam right now – such an efficient way to get good useable info (while hands free). One of my oldest friends is pregnant and she asked me for my top parenting podcast reccs. These are my top picks for the pregnant or newborn stage:

Little Z’s Sleep – Sleep is the number one subject for all new parents. It’s great to have a trusted resource for answering all sleep questions, and especially an accessible one that can be consumed hands-free while feeding, rocking, or changing a baby. That said, there are MANY schools of thought on baby sleep, so I found it helpful to read/listen to multiple sources in order to figure out what works best for me and my babies.

How Do You Know It’s Time to Sleep Train? (I should have listened to this when Finn was younger!)

Baby in the House – By renowned parenting author Tina Payne Bryson, PhD, and a pediatrician, this short-lived podcast has just a handful of episodes about some early baby basics including Sleep Training, Bath Time, Baby Talk & Baby Sign Language.

The Birth Hour – I listened to many of these episodes before I was even pregnant. And on some mornings while I listened on the gym elliptical I had to turn it off before I passed out. Now that I have my own birth stories I appreciate the breadth of experiences it shares, along with the knowledge that every single birth is unique and life-changing, whether it goes to “plan” or not.

Giving Birth During COVID-19 with Virtual Doula Support

Atomic Moms – This one often leans toward to older-kid crowd, but there are still plenty of relatable episodes including interviews with authors, filmmakers, and friends. I listened to this one while I was pregnant with my second.

Dr. Tina Payne Bryson is Back! (Interview about her new book – Bottom Line for Baby)

The Longest Shortest Time – Unfortunately it’s no longer running, but all old episodes are still available. Very relatable, thought-provoking, often heavy or hilarious, and always real, LST is worth a dive into the archives. Many of the stories relate back to the host’s own traumatic childbirth experience and how she has (or has not) coped. Some honorary mentions include, My Newborn, The Asshole, The Mom Who Did Everything Wrong, and a three-part series on Natural Childbirth followed (years later) by an interview with the mother of midwifery herself, Ina May Gaskin. Also, best parenting podcast title ever.
